Mission

The mission of Laker Robotics is to develop the character traits of hard work, critical and creative thinking, good sportsmanship, continuous improvement, commitment to excellence, and leadership. These traits are positively associated with a sense of accomplishment, fun and success primarily through the use of competitive robotics.

Goals

Laker Robotics provides an alternative to conventional sports, allowing students to flex their intellectual and creative muscle in a competitive format through competitive robotics programs such as FIRST.

Laker Robotics provides mentors in the areas of CAD, programming, mechanical/electrical, machining, journalism, and business that are willing to work with students in a positive and professional manner, sharing knowledge and now-how.

Laker Robotics provides opportunities for all students who are interested in contributing, learning, and working as part of an intellectual and creative team.

Laker Robotics provides opportunities for all students to be active contributors to our community; finding ways to make the Waterford area and the world a better place to live through community service.

Students

Laker Robotics provides access to FIRST robotics programs for students in grades K-12. We are housed in the basement of St. Joseph’s hall at Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and School. Students do NOT need to attend Our Lady of the Lakes Church or School to participate in our programs. As of 2020, the Laker Robotics High School team has merged with the team from Orchard Lake Saint Mary’s Preparatory.
